List of Most Important Tiger Reserves In India 2021: There are around 51 tiger reserves out there across India and in various states. The tiger reserves are governed by the project tiger which is administered by the National Tiger Conservation Authority constituted by the prime minister of India.

India is home to nearly 80 percent of tigers across the world. In 2006, the tiger population was 1,411 which increased to 1,706 in 2010, 2,226 in 2014, and 2,967 in 2019. India also played a significant role in driving up global tiger populations as well.

Globally the Tiger population rose from 3,159 in 2010 and 3,890 in 2016 according to World Wildlife Fund and Global Tiger Forum.

According to NTCA, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of tigers with a population of 526, and Other states with significant tiger populations include Uttarakhand with 442, Karnataka 524, Tamil Nadu 229, Maharashtra 190, Assam 167, Kerala 136, and Uttar Pradesh with 117 tigers.
